Groove Lock

Post  whiz bang on Tue Nov 25, 2008 4:42 am

Hi everyone.
I have both Omnisphere and Stylus running and would like to get stylus in sync with Omni's arpeggiator, but I'm running into a situation. I'm using Apple Logic 8 as my host software.
I create two instruments in the sequencer, and assign Omni to Instrument 1 and Stylus to instrument 2.
The problem is that I can't have both instruments selected simultaneously. If I try to go to stylus, I have to switch to it, and omnisphere vanishes. The same thing happens in reverse. How would I go about bringing up both instruments together?
Thanks, guys. I love you.

I would like to hear what the experts say on this topic too Smile
I have a similar situation running EZdrummer and Omnisphere in ProTools
I cannot drag'n'drop midi clips because ProTools refuses to have more than one Virtual Instrument onscreen at any time.

Cheers

its easy in Logic.
you simply have to deactivate the purple chain locksymbol in the upper left corner of the plugin window.
Then logic will open a fresh window for every plugin that you doubleclick in a channel.

Doh !
How ignorant I was - If you uncheck the target button on a virtual instrument you can have several onscreen at the same time.
ProTools seem to be similar to Logic, thanks Hans Smile
Now drag and drop from EZdrummer to Omnisphere Arpeggiator works like a charm
It is really neat

I just got Omnisphere. I"m using DP and I have no trouble dragging a Midi File from Stylus RMX to the Groovelock box in Omnisphere. But when I do that the little yellow bar that's mentioned in the docs doesn't appear on the Arpeggiator page and there's no lock or change of the existing pattern. When I try and click on the GrooveLock box it brings up a giant Finder window. Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks in advance for your reply.

Clicking on the groovelock window opens the browser so you can load a midifile from your computer into Omnisphere.
Strange that you cannot get any Groove lock happening when you drag a file.
Maybe thats a biug in DP.
Have you tried to contact customer support?

Here's my experience: When I send over a MIDI file from Stylus, it will work, but only on sounds that do not have an existing Arpeggiator figure. If I like a sound which is used in one of the already-programmed arpeggiator patches, it will not change when I drag the MF over to the GrooveLock box. Is there a way to get it to change to the MF's pattern or do you always need to start with an unprogrammed sound?

Haven't tried support yet.

Thanks,
Gary Stockdale

Thats really odd. I use the Groovelock feature all the time with patches that already have an arpeggio assigned to them and they always lock.
Better contact support.

best
