It's Great to be Here

Post  bigcohoona on Sun Sep 28, 2008 8:13 am

Good Morning!

It is great to finally see a Spectrasonics Forum outside of Northern Sounds.

I have yet to receive my upgrade but am curious to know 2 things.
1. is there a good grand piano patch? (Not the torched one)
2. how is the extra content from the other Spec Sound libraries that was included?

I can't wait to get my hands on Omni, I still use Atmosphere regularly even though the wrapper crashes my mac and tosses my CPU into the.....omnisphere...yeah that was horrible, sorry.

Thanks
big~C

The dream piano is really beautifull, but very wet. If you want a straight piano sound, then I would look ellswhere.

Eric has stated that all the multisamples from the old libraries are there, except the heart of asia/Africa, which might be added latter. Bass legends are not included though. It would make sense, that if it ever is released, then it would be as a bonus for the steam version of trilogy.

Backbeat, Retro funk, Burning grooves, Metamorphose and Liquid grooves are allready released as SAGE libraries, and all the groove controlled stuff from DR1+2, Vocal planet and bizare guitar is a bonus in the sage expanders.

Eric hasn't said anything about the phrases from the old libraries (Which is a lot of the vocal plaet library AFAIK).

Thanks,
That is what I figured, of course that is not the intent of Omnisphere....like it wasn't with Atmosphere. Of course if they did open Omni up to sample libraries similar to the sage expanders for RMX....I might not need anything else ever...well except RMX, Logic, Live, Reason, ......................

Does the Dream Piano have a lot of effects already on it that you can tone down?

The reverb is in the sample it self, so you can't really tone it down for that close piano sound. Again if you want multisampled pianos with different mic positions, and all kind of different options, then look at the more traditionel piano romplers. I'm quite happy with kontakt 3 and a couple of sampletekk pianos. I also have Akustik piano from NI, which has some great sounds as well. The dream piano does what it does perfectly, and I get some heavly piano stuff with just a hint of delay and reverb. But I wouldn't play anything fast or aggresive on it.

Thanks again,

I primarily use Reason Piano's, it's good to hear that the Akoustik is good, I've been looking at that for a while...one at a time though.

Thanks again.

The main Libraries I was hoping for content from were the Symphony of Voices, Distorted Reality 1 (which I own already), and Hans Zimmer Guitars.

As to the DR 1&2, even though included with the sage expanders, I was hoping to "Play" them in Omnisphere, keeping all things Spectrasonics instead of opening them in either EXS, Mach 5, or NNXT.

Either way, things have only just begun!

Thanks again,

Admin,

Lhama got the link right (as if that is difficult)...Northern Sounds is the only forum that I've actually seen Erip P-man post on Spectrasonics happenings.

The Other Forum I have come to enjoy is Blue Lounge...not really for Spectrasonics products though and it could be that I just like the look of the site, I'm a cartoonist and a sucker for all things shiny.

Can't wait until Spectrasonics has a new forum for "RMX 2", and "Trilogy-STEAM edition"!

I think there are a billion other instruments you'd go to before Omnisphere for piano. It's not that type of instrument. Not that it couldn't be, it just isn't. Good thing too. Get Kontakt and a piano lib for real piano, but when you're board of it, Omnisphere's got great weird piano variations that'll make your head spin.

I own many of Spectrasonics Products so I really wasn't expecting there to be piano patches (They don't as of yet even offer a piano library), I was just curious. It will be interesting to see what Spectrasonics plans on doing with their STEAM engine.

Thanks for the input though.

Brilliant to have an Omnisphere site and my compliments to you.
Looking forward to all that happens here.

Going back through the post and without quoting, someone mentioned Eric P appears in the Northern Sounds forums.

In terms of Spectrasonics, are you aware of this one?

http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/spectrasonics/

It's a bit of a "messy" site but there's some good stuff in there if you trawl.

But in the end, I'm really looking forward to this community developing

Yep, a dedicated forum for Omnisphere is good as many posts about it on kvr seemed to be annoying the admin guys and everyone else in the instruments topic.
Sigh... another forum, will I actually get anything done? lol!

Plus this site looks quite a bit better than Northern Sounds or KVR....because that is what really matters afro

Thanks for all the comments, and hello to all who are new...myself included.

Back to the original post, does anyone else know how much content from Spectrasonics' other libraries made it into Omnisphere?

Thanks again,

big~C

...and no I haven't received mine yet...probably Thursday.

Thanks for taking the time and effort to create this dedicated forum for Omnisphere users.
Looks fab!

Regarding the OP question about the piano.
The dreampiano reminds me a lot of the legendary Kurzweil New Age piano. Not that it is a copy but it shares the same etheral timbre.
Definetly not your stock piano but i guess we all have lots of those already. The dreampiano has a somewhat unearthy quality-it sounds like its hoovering above the ground-like a zero gravity grand!
Very inspiring sound!

What a phenomenal piece of kit!

I would agree the everyone's posts, not your bread and butter...but perhaps everything else!

I havn't even scratched the surface and am blown away...even just by the increase in fidelity and aural clarity of the old Atmosphere patches...can't wait till this is 64 bit.

The Groove Lock function is amazing, if you don't have RMX yet, just set the $ aside.
