Does Ominisphere's multi eat up your ram?

Post  SEA on Tue Jun 09, 2009 4:43 pm

I'm working on a project using SX3 and running XP Pro 32 with 3 gigs of ram turned on.

After like an hour or so, when I started going through sounds in Omnisphere's multi (having a few tracks going) I had a pop-up that said "Omnisphere out of ram" or something to that effect.

So I shut down the project and rebooted etc. I was also running PLAY (Black Bird guitar) plus RMX and Trilogy.

I was wondering... "IF" I had Omnisphere loaded with a multi and (let's say) had 8 tracks of different patches loading BUT I was only using 2 tracks (or 2 patches) would the other 6 patches eat up my ram even if I wasn't using them in the project?

If so... can I delete those other tracks (patches) in multi mode and save my ram?

Thanks!

sure
every patch that is loaded into a part will use ram.
clear the parts that you dont use to save ram.

Thanks Hans!

I know it's a bit off topic but... what about RMX? I'm loading the same drum kit into like 4 of the multis so I can get kick, snare, toms on different tracks by muting the other drum parts. Is there a way to just load 1 kit in one part of the multi and then have separate outs for the drums?

Thanks,
Jamie
