Something New in the Works!

Post  Jazzooo on Sat Apr 17, 2010 11:48 am

Hi, everyone (and Hans!)--

I've been terribly preoccupied with my wife's battle with breast cancer, but we just got a new direction from Stanford and I am currently optimistic (or as optimistic as I can allow myself to be) and started composing again.

I don't have a title for this right now, I'm just calling it Loping, but it features Burning Piano and some other Omni sounds, along with Logic and Trillian, and I thought you'd enjoy it.

All the best,

Doug

The SpeedyShare player doesn't work with Macs.

Kind regards.

"The SpeedyShare player doesn't work with Macs."

That's odd, Dave--it certainly works with mine. I've posted over 100 tunes in the last year and have never gotten this feedback. It might be something else?

Sorry you can't hear it, though.

Doug

First of all i hope your wife is getting better.
Regarding your track-its harmonically challenging but frankly speaking i dont like the drumgroove.
It doesnt swing enough IMHO. Maybe you should try a more jazzwaltz oriented beat-i think that would do the harmonies more justice.

all the best to you and your wife!
Hans

I tried this again, Doug, and it worked fine. I like it. Apologies, the glitch must have been at my end.

My best wishes to you and your better half.

Kind regards.

Thanks, guys--we had lumpectomy #2 and some lymph nodes removed on Tuesday, so now we're just playing the waiting game to see if we got clean margins.

Hans, I appreciate your comments but I'm in love with that odd groove. I'm a jazz player and have no shortage of swinging recordings I've done with other players, but I was going for something a bit less organic, more hypnotic--a swingy/stilted equivalent of a techno loop, I guess. Can't win 'em all, I guess! Smile
