Single voice range limit

Post  novata on Tue Jan 18, 2011 3:06 pm

As most users of Omnisphere are aware, it is possible to play more than one sound in Omnisphere without using multi/stack mode. Just assign one midi channel to multiple Omnisphere mixer channels. Easy.
With this in mind, without stack mode on, I believe it should be possible to limit the range of a sound within the stack mode window, but it isn't.
Basically, I use Cubase and other VSTi's. I can play more than one instrument at a time and want to reduce the range of the sound I am using in Omnisphere without switching on stack mode which forces all sounds to play at the same time.

Is there a way to reduce the range, (eg, C1 to C3) of a single sound in Omnisphere without switching on stack mode?

only if youuse the instrumentsettings in your host.
I am a Logic user and to achieve what you describe i limit the range in the instrument setting for the current instrument channel that has nisphere instantinated.

Hi Novata
I may have misunderstood you here, but if not there may be a solution.
If you are definitely not using Stack mode at all, then what happens is that when you select a patch it is automatically added to the stack mode screen. But you can go on and delete any tracks that you don't want from stack mode. Therefore you should be able to delete all but the patch that you want to limit.
I'm not at my music pc just at the moment, but I'm sure this will work. ( and sorry if I'm sending out duff info)

Hi Neil,

Hmm, not good because I assign four or five patches into one Omni instrument. So, I think the answer would be to use more than one Omni.

Thanks,
