How do I shorten sounds?

Post  prudolph on Tue Jul 12, 2011 10:52 pm

Hello - I'm very new to Omnisphere - love the sounds, but I have a basic question about the length of many sounds: I can't find how to adjust length / decay and make them shorter.

E.g. a great sound like "Reso Fuzz Echoes" goes on too long - I need to shorten it. How? I can't find a decay control.

thanks for any advice

Welcome to the forum!
A patch in Omnisphere can be made of two layers A and B.
In order to control the actual length of both Layer simultaneously you need to link them using the link button in the middle between layer A and B.
Next you have to make sure that the Sustain knob in the Amp envelope in the lower right corner of the GUI is set to zero and then you can use the decay knob on the left of it to control the time the sound takes to decay from full level to silence.
Another thing that might lengthen the sound of a patch are effects like delay and reverb.
Those can be controlled in the FX page.

Please let me know if this answered your question

best
Hans
