Here is a track I dreamed up with the venerable Omnisphere

Post  any1particular on Fri Sep 26, 2008 6:56 am

Hi.

This tune was totally composed with the awesome Omnisphere (with the exception of the drums (Ableton's Designer Drums) and the glitches (PureMagnetik) ) and Ableton's Live 7.

Magic In The Omnisphere mp3.mp3

Please feel free to leave a comment.

Peace. Wink

Warm, funky at times, pleasing on the ear.
Nice arpegg too. Personally, I'd have liked some cut off filter on those fast bass notes but I'm not criticising by any means.
Hope I can write something this good out of the box.

Keep em coming

Neil, thanks for the reply.

I like your suggestion - cut off filter on the rapid bass notes.

I wish I was a bit clearer on what it is that it would do & how to achieve it?

Would it make the bass more defined and interesting?

I am a hobbiest that's trying to learn as much as I can while I can (say that 10 times real fast).

I appreciate constructive criticism. This is what drives quality right? We probably need more of it.

Please send some of your music my way. I'd love to give it a listen.

Peace.

It'd make the bass more interesting, especially (I assume) with Omnisphere synced to BPM. The filter will change the amount and timbre of sound the bass places (in very simplistic terms). As a comparison (poor one), think of an Acid 303 bass line and how they change in sound constantly. Imagine a filter sweep pad too with that warm upward sweep.
I didn't suggest anything as drastic as a 303 technique by any means, but just a little something to add movement and variety in what is already a lovely track.
Don't spoil it for my ideas though Exclamation

I am absolutely going to give that a try Neal.

Thank you soooooo much for the thoughtful reply.

I love the suggestion.

Synth bass can really be sterile and I'm always looking for ways to make it ALL more interesting.

Peace.
